Products can be divided into two different type- physical products, which can be touched, and digital products, which can not be touched. It is something like hardware and software but I like to use physical and digital products in this case.
The shoes you are wearing, physical product, can be touched. If you sell your shoes, you get money but you lose your shoes. If you want to sell thousands of shoes, you have to make thousands of shoes. The more you want to sell, the more you have to invest and the more you need to handle. If somebody orders your shoes from Japan, you have to send it to long distance by shipping.
In digital product, such as your music file, video file or e-books in you computer can be copied millions of times from a single file. If you create one digital product, you can sell millions of them. You get money but you never lose your digital product.
You no need to invest it any more. If somebody orders your digital product, you do not need to physically deliver; you just send the digital product to the buyer via email - which allows the seller to make money in his sleeping time.
One of the major benefits of creating digital product is that the work you did once can potentially earn you income for the rest of your life. Digital products give you excellent profit margin, once you have created it. Because you do not need to manufacture them, or stock them, or pack them, your profit margin is just above 100%. There is no inventory to maintain or any form of delivery hassles because it can be delivered automatically and instantly once the readers makes his or her purchasing funds available.
That is why so many people are selling e-books, music and software over the internet. If you are a good writer, you write e-books and sell on internet. If you can create music in your own, you can sell them on internet. If you are very good programmer, you find out niche market and create software for that market and then sell them on internet.
